1492 and the Ocean Blue

You pursued the unyielding taste of new land for pride.

You claimed a world already toiled by hands nearby.

You called the four horses never breaking a stride.

The history of man is not written by the occupied.

You thirsted for blood to build your immortal guide.

You governed the people as infection to the eye.

You shared your joys with brothers Jekyll and Hyde.

The history of man is not written by the occupied.

You employed the bones to dig their graves wide.

You painted the heavens with blood covered dye.

You spilled the sickness to eat them from the inside.

The history of man is not written by the occupied.

You labored your people to move with oxen stride.

You tolled the mines with damned souls for supply.

You spiced the fields with a husband’s dead bride.

The history of man is not written by the occupied.

You cleaned your hands with children’s tears un-dried.

You sailed for the glory of the radiant Florin in the sky.

You live on, in the hearts of men, as a drowning tide.

The history of man is written by the hero.
